Our client based in the Newtownabbey area is a very successful and expanding business in the industrial services sector.  As part of growth they are recruiting for a Finance Manager to join their team. The Finance Manager will report into the Finance Director and assume responsibility for the Finance Function of the business whilst working alongside the FD on more commercial aspects of the business with the view to progressing to a more senior role within the company.

 Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of the quarterly and yearly management accounts to present to the Directors within the agreed timescales.

  • Ensure accurate accounting records are maintained by accounting staff and ensure adequate segregation of duties.

  • Prepare details of each activity/division on the accounts and present budgeted management accounts for inclusion in the coming year reports.

  • Compose variance analysis of monthly budget to actual, including explanations of relevant matters.

  • Prepare or supervise the preparation of any ad-hoc reports that may be required by the Board or senior management.

  • Ensure regular accounting functions are carried out.

  • Manage and control the day-to-day activities of finance staff, ensuring communication is regular and consistent.

  • Ensure compliance with company standards, policies and procedures.

  • Prepare financial forecasts for the trading activities, consolidate and monitor actual performance, prepare budgets accordingly

  • Assist in the preparation of weekly and monthly cashflow analysis with continual update of bank reconciliations.

  • Manage treasury function, including FX and working capital.

  • Prepare monthly creditors for payment.

  • Financial Costings; Review expenditures regularly and introduce cost controls, where appropriate.

  • Conduct capital expenditure audits to ensure viability of capital projects from a commercial and financial aspect

  • Liaison with External Bodies


  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)

  • A minimum of 3 years relevant experience

  • Excellent financial systems and Microsoft office skills particularly Excel and Word

  • Commercially minded
